My name is Anna Martin. I've created Inner Sanctuary as a safe space for you to unwind. Life can be hard. The body holds onto things and it takes time learning to unwind and feel, to help move things through. To be held in this process is so important. Healing begins on a personal level but continues in community, to be witnessed in these sacred spaces, in the thick of it.
This unwinding and coming back to your body is so dear to me. At one point for me, it was either learn to do that or be content with a life not lived.
After experiencing multiple traumas I didn't recognize myself. Fear ruled my world and I sunk deeper and deeper into what I thought was safety. Experiencing panic attacks and severe anxiety, I rarely left my home, I was barely living. My world shrunk, my body I could no longer endure. I had to reach rock bottom before reaching out. When I finally reached out, there were people there to help. I learned how to regulate my nervous system after a lifetime of living in fight-or-flight. It was then that I went to my first trauma-informed yoga class and I began my journey into yoga and bodywork. I found, with a heap of patience, and a lot of determination, that yoga was able to help me unwind bit by bit. My body started feeling safe again.
My world began to open up.
It was in this time I received my first ever massage, with a beautiful soul whose trauma-informed touch helped me sink even more into my body and learn that touch can be safe and nourishing. Years later, after becoming a 200-hr trauma-informed yoga teacher and receiving my Reiki master training, I began to feel the pull to become a bodyworker. Since childhood I've been fascinated by the human body and how it works. I jumped in, went to school and obtained my massage therapy license. I've created Inner Sanctuary to be a safe space for others. So no matter how broken you feel, how entrenched in stress responses you are, there is always a way out. Sometimes all you have to do is reach out and believe in yourself and your ability to heal.


My approach
My goal is not just to ease tension, but to hold space for you. Approaching every session with gentleness, respect and deep listening, I blend anatomy-based therapeutic techniques with holistic practices to create the unique experience your body, mind, and soul are craving. I believe that every body carries wisdom and that if we listen closely enough we can hear what it needs. Using intuitive touch and my knowledge of the body I can feel into the wisdom of your body. Incorporating the different modalities that are needed, from cupping and massage to sound healing and energy work. Every single session is as unique as you are. Whether you are in need of deep nervous system nourishing or therapeutic targeted bodywork I will work with you to create a plan that suits your needs.
